Intercooler Piping Rework

For all the MR2 engine bays I have looked online, offline, the only type I like are those modestly polishing off the stock ones. They are only a few with heavy mods that appeal to me, and those are usually done as a full restoration project where the owners thought throughout the entire design, rather than adding a piece because everyone is doing it.

With the general guidance of going stock if there obvious performance restriction, I ordered the stock intercooler pipes. But because my turbo is TD06 20G sitting at a slight off-angle and position, and my cooler inlet is at the bottom, I have to use the stock hot pipe plus the mod s pipe came with the purchase. This is working out fine, except I can’t mount it using the stock hot pipe bracket, which I plan to custom make.

For the cold pipe, I was hoping to use the stock one, but my RMR intake manifold sits much further from the edge, leaving much less space for the stock cold pipe to go. I ended up ordering the short version ATS inlet. And since my cooler’s outlet is at a different angle than the stock one, I still can’t use the stock cold pipe, after some research, I found the birk technology one, looking great.

Now with the hot pipe change, I can no longer use the Greddy Type R BOV that came with the purchase, I could opt for an adapter, but why, I don’t like the look of it anyway. But it’s hard to find the oem BOV, took me a while to find one. With the oem BOV, my plan is like this, normally, I would recirculating it back to my intake, and while I miss that turbo sound, I will unplug it and let it vent to atmosphere. So I got the intake plug from Mr2Heaven.
